About me
I've always wanted to be a psychologist, learning about human behaviour and emotions. However, destiny had other plans. I ended up becoming an accountant with a degree in commerce and management. I worked as an accountant for a few years before stepping into the world of Strata.
My first job in the strata industry was as a receptionist/administration in a small boutique firm in Melbourne that managed small properties to medium highrises. I was responsible for the day-to-day operations of providing secretarial and administration services. Within a year, I was promoted to assistant manager where my duties and responsibilities evolved in assisting the manager.
With years of experience acting as an assistant manager at multiple companies in Melbourne, I gathered the confidence to become a strata manager, where I had a mixed portfolio of buildings to manage, that contained 3 lots to 1,000 lots and most had building issues (defects, cladding and non- compliances matters) that required to be resolved within a certain time frame. As time went by, my work was recognised and appreciated by owners, committee members and tenants. With such review, I was awarded 'manager of the year' from a franchised base company that I was working for at the time and was extremely grateful that a milestone had been achieved.
Again, destiny had other plans! I had paused my career, as I was blessed with a baby! When the time was right, I resumed working as a strata manager, as well as a full-time mother.
I have been working in the Strata Industry for approximately 10 years. I have learnt that the Strata Industry is an evolving industry and can be challenging for some!
I understood that my accounting, commerce and management degree is not enough! In this industry, we are dealing with buildings but more importantly with human behaviour and emotions. We are required to have the ability to listen and to communicate effectively, the ability to interpret a plan of subdivision and to identify boundaries, the ability to interpret acts, the ability to have the courage and knowledge on how to handle a dispute, the ability to work with the Owners Corporation to achieve its goals and the ability to be transparent.
I have always been passionate about the strata industry and would like to make a difference in your life.
